Website Grader gives out free SEO Tips

Search Engine Optimization or SEO and its more commonly known is one of the most important elements to gaining traffic to any website. We all try our best to improve our site but we generally lack ability to optimize our websites, this is where Website Grader comes into the picture. Its run by HubSpot, a search engine and Web-marketing optimization company.

The idea of this site is to give you simple basic tips based on your website address and they will churn out a report breaking down your website to help squeeze ever ounce of SEO. So I typed in yeepage.com to see how I faired with this report and I received a score of 92 out of 100.

So what did the report tell me?

1. On Page SEO

Here they have recommended a reduction of my metatags on my homepage, they suggest less than 10 metatags as more will water down the others, also I have too many images on my homepage which will slow down the loading of the page, most of my images are missing alt text but this is easy corrected. Lastly the approximate level of education necessary to read and understand the web page content. In most cases, the content should be made to be simple so that a majority of the target audience can understand it. mines rated at secondary/ high school which means I aim my posts to an audience at beginner level blogging and keeping the english simple.

2. Off Page SEO

In this section they look at domain age, Google PR, number of indexed pages in Google,Alexa Rating,Inbound links, and which directories the website is listed at.(e.g. Yahoo, DMOZ)

So what to do next?

I have applied some of the recommendations from Website Grader and have seen my score increase to 94 out of 100 in only 3 days, not quite a prefect score and there still is room for improvement…
