Upgraded to WordPress 2.5
After the release of WordPress 2.5 earlier in the week, I have finally got around to looking at upgrading my version to the latest. So I activated my automatic upgrade plugin and set about the upgrade process. The whole upgrade took me around 10 minutes to run though, I choose to use the manual upgrade path and all went well.
Then with in seconds I was getting comments (spam) for my approval, that when I noticed my plugins was still switched off. So quickly turning on askimet and it all stopped and I spent another 10 minutes activating all my other plugins. Tip: take a screen shot of all your plugins before upgrade as it make it easy in future.
In case you was wondering about all the WordPress plugins I use, all are compatible with the latest WordPress release, only was Alex King Popularity Contest Plugin that had a few issues, which was later solved with a little search.
Here is the tweak that you are required to use:
- Open popularity-contest.php and scroll down to line 59. Replace require(’../../wp-blog-header.php’); with require (’../wp-blog-header.php’);
- Upload the edited file to your plugins folder (sub directory popularity-contest)
- Reactivate the plugin
Another 5 minutes and it was working too.
So not bad 25 minutes and the whole WordPress 2.5 upgrade was complete. i don’t see any issues for everyone to upgrade to version 2.5 and this was my first post from the admin panel and layout was more user friendly and oh I love the “toggle full screen mode button” that displays the post on full screen which stops you from getting distracted with other things.
They may be a few bugs within my blog due to the latest upgrades so feel free to drop me a comment if you find any bugs or fine tune up’s.
So I would like to congrats the WordPress developers for another great upgrade and within a few weeks I believe we all forget the days of WordPress 2.3.3. For the information on total number of upgrades drop over the latest statistics .
