The Power of MyBlogLog

If you're new here, you may want to browse my articles and if you like them please subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

In one my earlier articles regarding monetizing my blog (Part 2), I mentioned socializing with other people via Mybloglog(MBL) and others. So I have started a week long effort to push my MBL community. Before I was little unsure on its power and how to use it, but now with further study I can see the value.

We have all seen the “MBL widget with recent readers” floating around on other peoples blogs and may have even clicked on the box to view the peoples profiles or even joined the community and not known what’s it’s about?

First think why you clicked on that particular profile? Possible it was the icon that stood out from the rest? Probably it was. So what’s going attract people to attention to your icon sitting among others in the recent readers section, Attention is attracted normally by either a face or some bodies else’s face. But unless you do something different you may find it hard to stand out in the crowd, For myself I have added a picture of me scuba diving in the hope it will draw people to my profile and latter my blog. So my first comment would be “standing out” then the odds of more hits increase.

The other main element of the widget is “Communities”; you may wonder why to join a community?

The reason is quite simple, when you join another persons community your icon is added to their list, therefore more people will see your icon and click on your profile then your exposure is increased. When you join a community, you may join any type but I recommend you start by adding relevant blogging topics to increase the quality of your readers.

So far we have discussed standing out, traffic and exposure.

So we have done the basics, so now let’s look at optimizing and increasing traffic further, above I mentioned joining communities and how having your icon in other persons communities increases exposure. Now imagine joining 10 to 15 communities a day! This over a matter of a week will increase your traffic no end.

Another option if you have no time to add so many communities, is to join them automatically, this can be done by going to the edit profile section and clicking on the join a community button and adjusting to say 10 pages, therefore when you have viewed a member for more than 10 times you will automatically join their community.

Lastly a good point was not mentioned earlier is, you gain friends and from there can exchange ideas, stories and even exchange links and more….

So if you have 5 minutes to spare today add my YMMJ community and start increasing your traffic today.
