Add Ratings to your blog

Every wondered if your readers like your content?

You may have you seen that many blogs now have an instant feedback to their posts though a AJAX rating system. Something like this

Outbrain

In this you can see this person got 11 votes and 29 comments and this is becoming more of a trend nowadays, and is becoming an alternative to writing a comment as it’s much quicker.

You can now easily add this rating system to your blog through Outbrain. There is no need to register and is available for free for you to use. For Typepad and Blogger users, you can use a 1-click installation method, where as for WordPress users, you just need to download a WordPress plugin and you’ll be all set.

outbrain

Once installed, Outbrain will place stars below your posts and allow your readers to rate you between 1 and 5 stars.

Whats your experience with this plugin?

I have this installed on two of my blogs, one gets used the other not so much. I think in some way it must depend on your niche and the type of traffic you’re getting how much the ratings get used.

I personally like it because it gives me some additional feedback from my readers that I can use for future efforts. If you’re not using it I would suggest you give it a try and see if adds value to your blog.

Another good hint from Simon, thank you. I admit that I read most of your posts via GoogleReader and large majority are directly useful. My plan is to install this Blog rating to my Blogspot. Thank you.

      Yeah,

I’m using SezWho now too. It seems to be more evenly distributed in terms of advantages for the blogger vs. reader.

Somehow, I can’t see past this rating system as more ’self interested’. There is either little or no benefit to the reader. Who wants to mark your blog post?

Stars ain’t going to beat actual comments anytime soon I guess.

      Nic.
