Directories are a Good Source for Backlinks

What are backlinks?

According to Wikipedia:

Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page. In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node (Björneborn and Ingwersen, 2004). Backlinks are also known as incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links.

What are the benefits of backlinks?

The two key benefits of backlinks are Traffic and Google PageRank. If you use backlinks correctly you should see some quality traffic coming to your site. I mean the link should be placed on a related and popular website and visiable to all. You can either buy a text link( anti Google PageRank) or you can also participate in Web2.0 to make your links visible.

Is Alexa really showing our blogs true traffic?

After writing my post on Is PageRank coming? And who cares? it started me thinking whether any of the Ranking systems truly represent our blogs worth. So I started looking at my Alexa and wondered why they show the three month average and not the one week average.

How is the Alexa Traffic Ranking Based?

“Alexa's traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users over a rolling 3 month period. A site's ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1.”

Promoting your website using Digg

While Digg.com may not be quite as popular as other sites like Myspace,  Digg can be an excellent way to generate traffic and links to your site. It could be possible to gain hundreds of visitors a day within one day of using Digg.

How to use Digg to generate traffic?

Digg is a free service and you can submit as many pages as you like, but be careful and don’t be greedy as Digg does not like and may ban your site if you only submit one or two site's articles. BlogRush

After reading about Blogrush from Lifestylersgroup I had to get on the train, I been away for the weekend and just about caught up with the back log so I was a little late to start this, but it’s not to late.

So what is BlogRush you may be asking?

BlogRush is a widget (you may sigh) that creates a syndication network dedicated to drive targeted traffic to your blog in your side bar. BlogRush works by adding 5 links within the widget to other articles from the Blogosphere that relate to your blog. By having the widget within your blog you will earn credits, which will mean your link will be shown to other blogs.

Another neat feature is the referral system, people can sign up under you from two different ways. Either by copying your referral link or by clicking on the Add your Blog Posts – FREE , for this you will earn credits too. The referral system is 10 levels deep so you can earn from a huge downline so it’s best to get in early to get the full benefits.

As it’s a free Website there’s no harm to give it a try, on how much traffic you will get I am not sure, but again its free so any traffic is good.

How to Get You Website Indexed By Search Engines Quickly?

There are several ways and the most common is to manually submit you page to the search engine itself, but today I want mention alternatives that can be used to speed up this process. Different search engines have many different ways to index a website. But methods to get a new website indexed by major search engines are more or less the same. Let me give you some of the methods to get a new website listed.

Establish a link with an established and preferably a popular website.
Whether you have a friend or can make contact with another blogger or possible submit your site to SEO directories. These sites or directories are typically search engine friendly and other search engine spiders will be able to find your site.

Create a link from one of your existing websites. If you already have an existing website with a good ranking you will be able to link to your new website. When the search engine reads your old site it will find the link and stumble upon your new site.

Writing articles. Writing an article and within the resource box adding your website link. By writing an article about your site you will create the link. Which can be followed and at same time adding interest about your site.

These are just 3 ways to speed up the process, if you have any more kindly leave your comment below.
