Summary for December

We have just past Christmas and New Year is upon us so that means it’s end month and end year for 2007, the year as a whole been a tough one on a personal note, but in terms of blogs it’s been good and enjoyable time.

So lets get into what happened in December.

    Alexa Ranking Dropped

    alexa rankingJust seen my updated Alexa ranking and was pleased to see that it has crept under 100,000 mark for the first time, when I started paying notice to my Alexa ranking my rank was 493,490 on 3rd Oct and has gone down to 99,903 on 26th Dec which is less than 3 months.

    You may be thinking big deal and compared too some of the big bloggers it’s not low, but when I set out to blog it was one of my benchmarks I was aiming for and finally I have achieved it.

    Twitter- Social Networking and Micro Blogging

    What is Twitter?

    According to Wikipedia

    “Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send “updates” (or “tweets”; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website, via short message service, instant messaging, email, or an application such as Twitterrific.”

    You have all heard of social networking, but maybe not mirco-blogging, this is what Twitter is well known for. In micro blogging you are limited to 200 characters (Twitter is 140) updates which is sent by several modes of delivery like SMS, email and instant messaging. Whereas a more traditional blogs you will be able to increase your characters unlimited and write with more features like pictures, etc. This is why people like twitter so much it’s a simplified blogging platform.

    Wordpress Plugin- Top Post by Category

    Ok, so for us Christmas is over and it’s that time for turkey sandwiches for the next few days and for me it’s time we get back into blogging again. You may have seen last week I have added a new page to my menu bar called Top Posts, I have added this page to allow readers easy access to my top articles though one page which saves times for them to search my whole archive and can be a good way to convert a reader to a RSS feed subscriber.

    Why this page important?

    For me it’s straight forward, it’s like a gallery for an artist who wishes to show this best painting. It’s no different for a blogger, it’s our gallery to show our best articles to all. When I reach a persons blog for the first time one of the things I would look for straight away is the top post page so I can gauge the quality of the blog. Read more

    Today’s the Big Day

    I was debating with myself whether I should post another blog tip, site review of even just a money making program. But, then it came across my mind and to be honest how many people will actually spend the time today to read it.
