Summary for October
It’s my first full month of Wordpress and I have seen the differences, found tonnes of plugins and tried maybe one too many and got quite obsessed with them.
So now down to the real stuff:
Summary of Posts
Ok, so finally we have seen the Google PageRank update and its about time too, so much talk this month about the topic that it got a bit too much at times, so now its time to reflect on our new PR and what to do next. Quite a few shocks too with some top quality blogs losing ground and some others flying.
Here’s a few of interest…

Hold my First Contest
My month gone has gave my huge increase in traffic (shown below) which was partly generated by stumbleupon, and i touched on Sphinn, Digg and Del.icio.us in the last week, i will investigate more into them in the coming month.
I have yet to invest time into money making schemes online and will explore these more over the up coming months and will report them in future months summaries.
Conclusion
I am very happy with my traffic currently and hope to see this continue, little surprised with my PR of 2 but never mind, but generally my progress is going along according to my schedule.
The 45n5 Top 100 list Movers and Shakers
Read a post from Xfep author David regarding the Top 100 in 45n5.com and I fought I have a look to see the movers and shakers since Google has updated its PageRank. As you can guess since the last update for Google was so long ago there have been some big movers up the charts and below is the Top 50.
Nice to see Darren from Problogger back to where he belongs as Rank number 1 blog in the niche, and one of the big movers who not quite in the top 20 is Bryan over at onemansgoal who’s blog is a personal favorite of mine, don’t think it be long before he hits the Top 20 too, and not forgetting Andy Beard who’s moving up steady and is now ranked number 7
45n5 is designed to feature the top 100 and the upcoming blogs within the internet involved in moneymaking online and have expanded their list to 225 blogs, this list is a great source to benchmark yourself within the niche and see how you have preformed. I can see with time that this will become an authority list of money making niches.
On a personnel note my site which was previously featured at number 156 (I believe) has dropped to 149, but as most blogs around me now have PR of 2 I don’t expect much of a drop. My target now will be to hit the top 100 list but when will largely depend on the next PR update. But with my Technorati and Alexa regularly dropping my ranking will slowly drop too.
Decluttering your Blog
When you search around the Blogosphere you will see sites which go for the minimalist touch and others just clutter up there blog with thousands of widgets, buttons and other stuff. Typically newbies will go head and plaster there site with every button or widget they can find later to realize there no room for the real content.How many of us have a categories sidebar which is as long as their latest post? This is a total waste of our website real estate. And every inch can have potential to make money so don’t waste this space.
When you have come to this stage you can do two things:
1. Create a complete new theme
2. Touch up/ tweak your current theme

Sphinn- Social Bookmarking for Internet Marketing
I Have seen the blue circle on articles for a while and I had it in my list of things to do, and finally I got around to looking at the Sphinn site a few days ago and I only regret not starting earlier.
Your probably thinking it’s another one of many social bookmark sites currently out there and yes it is another social bookmark site, but with big differences. Sphinns content is a niche in itself they cater closely to internet marketing and you will find only related site and articles in this field.
I currently use stumbleupon to socialize and have received excellent traffic figures, but most traffic is of low quality, where as digg just don’t seem to have the correct categories for our niche as well as its damm hard to hit the first page. This is where Sphinn fills the gap between the two, Sphinn have all the categories that we require and actually give you quality traffic to match.
Here’s the reason why I am liking Sphinn so far…
Sick of Spam Mail?
First started with the letter boxes being filled with junk mail and then when the computer age arrived and especially the e-mail era, it got worse. Nowadays it’s just too easy to send spam and you can do it from your arm chair.
Why Is Wordpress Spam a Problem?
Basically it wastes our time, most bloggers hold down a regular job and with blogging it does not eave mush time to do any thing else so we don’t want the hassle of spending a hour a day going though e-mails or approving comment when we can be doing other tasks. A great example is Darren of Problogger who received his 2,000,000 spam which was caught with akismet. When he worked out the time it would of took to clear all these spasm it came to some serious time in fact 1.5months no stop 24/7 to clear them.
