Making Your Own Social Bookmarks

Spent most of my Saturday trying to add social bookmarks to my site, first  I checked with Derek  but found the plug-in that he recommended never worked properly on my site, so I went around and tried around another 4 plug-ins and believe it or not they also never worked. So I was at the point of giving up when I stumbled on AvgJoeBlogger who wrote the codes for creating your own social bookmarks plug-in, which I will show you later, but first some important info.

Why use Social Bookmarks?

Social bookmarking can make a huge difference to any ones blog, if you get to the front page of these websites then you can see an increase surge of traffic. But to be able to get on the front page visitors are required to vote and this is where the social bookmarks come in.

Visionbedding.com has created some amazing designs for there bedding, pillows and more, they have a large range of sports themes to choose from, but today we going look at the basketball theme.

You may upload your favorite picture of your basketball all star or you can choose from the range in there shop online. Either way you are guaranteed to find the dream bedding for you.

Is PageRank coming? And who cares?

That’s the million dollar question… since I wrote about PageRank back on 25th July and my prediction the PageRank will be around end July to early August 2007 which was based on the 2 years worth of data from Google.  But at that time the days went by then became weeks until I forgot about the latest update….  But we all agree its clearly long over due.

Then suddenly Bryan Clark of onemansgoal mentioned he got his first PageRank (Rank 5) which appeared then disappeared as fast, I was excited again to search to see if the PageRank machine was calculating again. So I went though my 70 or so blogs that I regularly follow to see if any other bloggers had any surges in there PageRank as Bryan had.

Promoting your website using Digg

While Digg.com may not be quite as popular as other sites like Myspace,  Digg can be an excellent way to generate traffic and links to your site. It could be possible to gain hundreds of visitors a day within one day of using Digg.

How to use Digg to generate traffic?

Digg is a free service and you can submit as many pages as you like, but be careful and don’t be greedy as Digg does not like and may ban your site if you only submit one or two site's articles. The best tip will be to submit pages from your site, and any other interesting pages from other sites you find online. Try using long keywords within your title of your Digg entry and link back to your site.

My Revamped Blog…

As you are aware the month of August had been the month to revamp the look of your blog by changing the template, there are many reason for doing this and generally it comes down to professionalism and readability of the blog to the viewers.

Three major bloggers changed their templates namely, Problogger, JohnChow and Calocab. There reasoning can be explained below:

Problogger had his reasons of the change to a new blog face lift, he quoted that “I always find a fresh coat of paint can really lift a room, a haircut can improve a mood and a blog redesign can get the creative juices flowing again.

Johnchow is all about making money online and if you are serious in making money online then you would be interesting in why he also did a makeover “The old theme was stuck at $12,500 a month and I wasn’t going to break out of that unless I do a redesign. This is all part of the make money online process. I didn’t do a redesign for the sake of a redesign.

Carlocab changed his blog design without announcing it to the crowd but i believe most of his readers catch his intention of bringing a better and refreshing look from his older skin.

So with the increasing number of blog / websites appearing daily on the web, and with many people blogging about the same niches, Presentation and readability of the blog becomes important to defining the difference between bloggers. Therefore we know blog design does make a huge difference and not just content alone.

Visitors are not just looking at simple content which many time is repeated but are looking for the value added website which allows them to interact with , whether its finding.

So why did I change my Blog design?

Well for me I found using B2evolution very difficult to make my site reader friendly and found a lack of good plugins to add to my site hard to find. Now with using Wordpress I am able to enhance my site and make every ones visit enjoyable.

My site is not 100% ready I have yet to add my other pages but I will be adding them slowly over the next few weeks. If you find any bugs or recommend any good plugins kindly leave me a comment or two.

Or maybe just leave me a few words of encouragement as I continue to endeavor to bring you quality content.

I would like to finish by thanking Etienne Teo for allowing me to use some of this content, and stay turned as he is currently revamping this blog design too, i seen a early version and its looking good.

Tricks to increase comments on your blog

People might even say these are fair methods to increase your comments, others might call them unethical. It’s solely up to the admin to do what they feel is necessary to encourage comments.
1. Fake your comments– If were all honest we have all done it to start our blogs off as there’s nothing worse than a empty blog when it’s started. People don’t like starting off the conversation but they don’t mind joining in. Either you can call your family to write a comment or two or just hire someone to do it ().It’s been called “content Seeding”
